Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back to the Super Bowl! Timberlake announced via Twitter, with the comedic help of Jimmy Fallon, that he will take the halftime show stage February 4th in Minneapolis. Timberlake, who was rumored to be this year’s halftime performer, is a great choice given his catalogue of hits, but we can’t talk about how great of a musician and performer he is without talking about 2004. He will be making his first halftime show appearance since Janet Jackson and he performed “Rock Your Body” and Timberlake ripped off part of her outfit singing ironically the final verse of the song, ‘bet I’ll have you naked by the end of this song’. Timberlake’s career took off since the incident; he has won ten Grammys, four Emmys, and an Academy Award Nominee. Timberlake has been forgiven by the NFL and is being welcomed back in a big way, while Janet Jackson is still waiting for her invitation. The 2004 incident led to a crackdown by the FCC on objectionable broadcast material and Jackson bore the brunt of criticism and has been banned from the NFL ever since. Timberlake is currently working on his fifth studio album, which is buzzed to be inspired by his Memphis roots and what a better way to promote an upcoming album than having over 100 million people as your entranced audience.
