…. And all my dad gave me was an old used Saab. by Joe

Ok, so obviously people sit at the wheel of their own destiny, as it were. BUT if your Dad was Ferry Porsche, arguably one of the prolific designers and engineers of the past century, then… Well let’s just say the birthday gifts had a bit more zip in them than the norm. One such example is this the very first 911 turbo, as a gift from Ferdinand Porsche to his daughter Louise Piëch. This rare and beautiful auto is on display at the spectacular Promised Land for enthusiasts: the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. What is truly fascinating to me is that his daughter had no interest in the auto field. She was an artist. To that this 1973 silver 911 still has the oil paint marks on the dash, rugs and seats from her drives through out Germany and painting vista’s. I think birthday is coming up… Have to call my pop and remind him.
