Broken robots that learn to keep going.

When we think of robots we often think Star Wars and machines like C3P0, who can figure out what to do if their leg gets blown-off by Storm Troopers, but in reality, most robots remain stationary in factories and when they break, they shut down. Currently companies like Boston Dynamics are working to develop robots that can adapt to breaking and even fix themselves. Project “Big Dog” is focused on developing robots that can understand changing situations, detect when they are damaged and respond with “intelligent trial and error” to figure out how to adapt and keep going.
