Chaos theory. Are you really not ‘doing’ strategy?

March 5, 2013

We saw this blog post on the Harvard Business Review and it brought to mind just about every Dilbert strip we’ve ever read. The author, Roger Martin, writes about the “uncertainty” excuse he hears when he asks business executives if they’ve identified their business strategy. “Often they can’t or won’t ‘do strategy’ because their operating environment is changing so much.” In case you haven’t already guessed, this is not a good excuse. Life is always uncertain, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give some order to the things you can control. Read the rest of Mr. Martin’s post and see where your company stands.
