Embrace the Vacation

June 24, 2016

If you want to savor your travel and embrace the adventure, it is important to always remember what truly matters. Disconnecting from technology helps to do so. According to Forrester Research, nearly one in five Americans carries a smart phone and with more than 500 million active Facebook users worldwide the number of vacation photos and status updates double every second amongst vacationers. Technology gadgets have made traveling a less memorable and enjoyable experience. In a National Geographic article it is expressed that “technology constantly used to connect people can make travelers miss the positive disconnection and fresh insights of their own day-to-day life”. Social media has fundamentally changed travel with the constant photo streams, instant picture feedback, and video views. Being constantly connected can make the trip less sensual and instead becomes a series of still images. Used in moderation, technology can make a trip go more smoothly actually. Setting time limits is a good way to keep track of how much gadget time is accumulated. As an advertising agency, it is inevitably that we are connected, however, we also understand the importance of setting boundaries when needed (especially on vacation)!
