Google Glass – a fascinating failure?

We’ve been curious at how the Google Glass project is coming along and found this piece on the BBC tech page, which was worth the read. Right now Google Glass is in beta testing and if you have a gmail and google wallet and a spare $1,700 you might be able to get in on the testing. The product is basically a pair of glasses, which puts the kind of information and applications you get on a smartphone into a tiny screen above the user’s right eye. Sounds pretty cool, but BBC reviewer Rory Callen-Jones wasn’t impressed. As tech lovers, we’ve noticed that almost every new technology starts off on shaky ground and one wise commenter applauded Google for sticking their neck out and pointed out that eventually smart eyewear will win because you don’t have to go fishing in your pocket or bag like we are always having to do when our mobile phone chimes.
