Happy Birthday YouTube

July 11, 2013

Last month YouTube turned eight years old and also announced that it has surpassed 100 hours of video uploads every minute with one billion people accessing its content every month. Now that’s something to celebrate. Since the 2005 launch, YouTube has become part of many people’s everyday lives. From “Charlie Bit my Finger” to “The Sneezing Baby Panda” – YouTube has entertained and informed viewers in the millions. It also didn’t take long for advertisers to see the impact YouTube could have on their campaigns. Over the past eight years, we have seen successful campaigns from Evian whose “Roller Babies” reached 68 million viewers, to Blendtec’s “Will it blend?” series who gained over 100 million views for its series. PSY’s Gangnam Style has been the first video to clock up more than one billion views – proving how quickly an eye-catching clip can spread thanks to social networks and YouTube. We love how great, innovative video can help entertain and inform. It’s a great tool for helping grow brands and sales. We’re excited to see what happens in the next eight years.
