Happy Hour For Kids?

December 20, 2016

With the holidays quickly approaching, stressed parents are looking to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and parent blogs to swap gift ideas and find the ultimate it toy of 2016. Well, we think the search is over. Fisher-Price delivers us the gift of the season. Have you seen it?! The “Fisher-Price Happy Hour Playset” features three children sitting around a play bar drinking out of beer bottle-shaped containers. For ages 3 and up, the set includes a pretend bar, bar stools, and beer bottles. The toy packaging has a toddler bartender hysterically resembling Coach from Cheers. As you can imagine, people are furious. The controversial and inappropriate product made the toy company release an apologetic statement, “as a premiere childhood development company focused on helping families get the best possible start in life, we take our role in developing toys and products very seriously.” Customers were outraged and took to social media to express their passionate feelings; “so now your toy company (widely trusted among parents for many decades) is promoting drinking with this ‘CHILDRENS’ toy of a bar, complete with beer bottles?” read one of many passionate Facebook posts. And to think, it was all a photoshop HOAX played on the huge toy company by a witty, creative designer!
