Pink Is Our Favorite Color

October 31, 2016

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we always love showing our support! Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States. An average of 1 in 8 women in America will get breast cancer at some point in their lives. The American Cancer Society works actively to fight breast cancer by encouraging and helping women get tested regularly and providing information about the importance of early detection. Over the years, the pink ribbon has come to symbolize breast cancer awareness. The pink ribbon is now emblazoned on thousands of products, but there’s more to the responsiveness than the symbolic ribbon and wearing pink. It is an opportunity to raise awareness and spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to unite and get involved. “One of my favorite ways breast cancer awareness is supported is by the NFL. Millions of people tune in each week to watch the games and to see the field sprinkled in pink is a great and effective way to spread awareness to a variety of communities” said Lauren Reagle of milk*. As we close another October, it is great to say that millions of women are beating cancer by early detection and improvements in treatment!
