Rockstar Rookie

July 31, 2017

Aaron Judge. The new face of Major League Baseball and the breakout rookie everyone can’t stop talking about. The 6-foot-7, 280-pound athlete is already being likened to a Lebron James type of athlete and personality of former Yankee fan favorite Alex Rodriguez, while topping Joe DiMaggio’s record for most homers by a Yankees rookie already. But what many do not know is that Judge’s time has been a long time coming, at twenty-five he is only now breaking into the major leagues after spending several years in the minor leagues developing his art of the game. But he’s here in a big way; Judge is already producing an absurd .437 batting average on balls in play. It would be the highest BABIP by a hitter qualifying for the batting title since 1984. Judge is hitting off a fastball nearly half the time it is pitched (49.6 percent), crushing each pitch that comes his way. Under Armour is surely giving themselves a big pat on the back, the brand signed Aaron Judge to an endorsement deal while he was still in the minor leagues and is now negotiating a long-term extension with him as his relationship with them and baseball deepens. Judge will be a cornerstone for Under Armour’s sports marketing strategy, along with them being the official outfitter of MLB in 2019. Judge will most likely flirt with the Triple Crown for the rest of the season and a runaway favorite to win Rookie of the Year. Roll out the turf. There is a new Yankee superstar on the field.
