Susie’s Senior Dogs

June 26, 2017

A dog is a companion that gives its owner unconditional love. No matter what kind of day the world throws, a dog greets its owner always happy to see them. But, the heartbreaking truth is, that many dogs do not get the love they deserve. Nowadays, with many more dogs in shelters, one has to wonder the who, what, when, where, and why of their situation. Statistics prove that puppies in shelters have a much higher percentage of getting adopted than an older dog. And then Susie’s Senior Dogs stepped in. The non-profit organization was started with the sole purpose of putting a spotlight on older dogs in need of finding a good, loving home. Despite their age, senior dogs prove to still have a lot of love to give to their owners. They may have their challenges and imperfections, but don’t we all? Take Duchess from Susie’s Senior Dogs. She was found at ten years old wandering around the Bronx in the dead of the blistering winter. Thankfully for Susie’s Senior Dogs, Duchess was rescued off the streets and the foundation used their Facebook platform to find her a home. Duchess (now Lola) is twelve years old and living with a great family who adore playing catch with her and showing her the affection she was void of. Duchess, like many other senior dogs, have a story to tell and an endless amount of love in their hearts that just need a home to call their own.
