TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

October 31, 2016

TED is a nonprofit global community devoted to spreading ideas and today covers all topics in more than 100 languages. Delivered in concise and powerful talks, TED welcomes people from all over seeking a more in depth understanding of what makes the world go round. Recently, a couple milk* employees had the fortunate opportunity to attend TED Talk’s NEW RULES in Washington, DC. The conference of 20 speakers was divided into three sections; A Way Forward, Hearts and Minds, and Reframing the Narrative each discussing the importance of coming together and creating a guide for a better universe. Attendees were handed flashcards of each speaker with a brief biography. By simply flipping through the deck, it was evident the diversity in the speakers. “My favorite part of the whole experience was the range of speakers”, said Deb Casey of milk*. Conference goers for instance heard from the White House Floral Designer of six years and a recent University of Maryland graduate entrepreneur fighting for food justice. Inspiring, eye opening, and dynamic were other encouraging characteristics used to describe their TED experience. TED “believe (s) passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and, ultimately, the world”.
