Time to Prime, Gaga Edition

July 19, 2019

These days, it appears it is not enough to simply be a musician. Singers become actors. Artists become entrepreneurs. Lady Gaga becomes a scientist…well, not actually. She’s started a lab, but not one with white coats and dissected frogs.

Gaga’s start-up beauty collection, Haus Laboratories, partnered with Amazon this week during Prime Day for an initial launch. Consumers can pre-order products on Amazon or the company’s official website, and the makeup will ship in September.

Gaga is not the first celebrity to hop on this train. Rihanna, Kylie Jenner, and Victoria Beckham all have or are planning to enter the makeup industry with their own lines. However, no one has seemed to want to partner with Amazon. Many marketers avoid selling their products on there out of fear of “losing control of the brand experience and undermining their image,” per The Wall Street Journal. Gaga will become the guinea pig to that fear.

Haus Laboratories’ goal is to bring high-quality products to people worldwide, at an affordable price. Lady Gaga hopes to help others feel beautiful in their own skin, as she said makeup did for her. Are Gaga and Amazon on the edge of glory, or will they fall deep in the shallows?
