Top of the World Opening Soon

April 28, 2015

The highly anticipated One World Observatory will open to the public on May 29, 2015. Visitors will be whisked up to the 102nd floor in fewer than 60 seconds via one of five “Sky Pod” elevators. In the “Sky Pods”, riders will be surrounded by floor-to-ceiling screens where a virtual time-lapse recreates the development of New York City’s skyline from the 1600s to present day. Up top, there’s a “Sky Portal”, a 14-foot wide circular disc that will deliver real-time, high-definition footage of the streets below. At 1,250 feet above ground, the panoramic views offer a look into pretty much every corner of New York City and a glimpse of Connecticut if you’re lucky. Tickets are on sale now.
