The Program, have you heard of the agency? The Program is a digital agency that is home to the all-woman brand team who are leading the Nike global account and shredding gender barriers in the workplace one creative brainstorm at a time. The agency, based in Portland, Oregon, has had a relationship with Nike for many years, working with the brand to develop global content strategies and cross-category content and social media innovations. Coe Lottis, founder and VP of Strategy, said when referring to how the all-woman team evolved, “it just happened – it was very organic. We try to find the most talented and smartest people who make the most sense (for each brand) and now we have this team at the helm of our largest relationship.” But the work these women accomplished in their collaborative passion and craft essentially landed the Nike spot, it had nothing to do with their gender. For those who believe it is still a ‘Mad Men’ world in advertising, look at the numbers – 60% of all professional positions in agencies are that of women. The Program is one of many agencies that are making positive strides towards gender equality in advertising. It is important for an agency to be successful and maintain long lasting relationships, like The Program and Nike, and to take a step back and recognize amazing work and talented people when it appears in front of them.
