Some love Jon Stewart and some love to hate Jon Stewart, but all of us have been left scratching our heads in disbelief — why would Stewart leave The Daily Show after 16 years, especially now with the 2016 presidential election heating up? Isn’t a wild and disorderly field of GOP hopefuls just what a liberal pundit lives for? Rachel Maddow is almost giddy. For whatever reason, Stewart said goodbye with a mix of wry parting shots and earnest displays of emotion. A true highlight was a montage of several targets of ridicule including Chris Christie, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bill O’Reilly, and John Kerry all firing back at Stewart ending with “So long, jackass”, from John McCain.
