Big brand beer advertising is always all over the map. Sometimes high-production, sometimes annoyingly stupid and sometimes pitch perfect. The latest effort for Miller Lite by TBWA Chiat Day has hit that mark. “Bodega,” a 9 commercial series highlights people you might see in your local convenience store. The characters are exaggerated to heighten their comedic value, but relatable enough to seem familiar. This might be an effort to associate Miller with “localness,” clever positioning considering big brand beer has found their sales eroded by craft beer in recent years. Whatever the aim, the low-key deliveries, indie-film style and perfect casting has made this series one of our favorites.
