One Millionth

May 30, 2017

Porsche’s 911 moniker is now a true automobile icon, with its release of their one millionth Porsche 911. After 54 years in production, the motoring legends now have even more to gloat about. Wolfgang Porsche – the son of Ferdinand (Ferry) Anton Ernst Porsche, co-creator of the 911 – was at the factory to see number one million unveiled, an unique moment indeed. Plaques on the B-Pillars will read, “911 Nr. 1,000,000”. The one millionth 911 will have the same Irish green paint and houndstooth cloth interior, the steering wheel and gear-lever will be covered in mahogany, and the exterior badges will be finished in real gold – markings of an icon indeed. The 911 has stayed true to its original formula – a rarity amongst the motoring industry – and the shape hasn’t changed much either – another rarity. It could be the timeless design or the immeasurable engineering quality that keeps Porsche at the top of all car lists, but whatever it may be, there is nothing else like it. Unfortunately, the one millionth 911 will not be sold, but rather Porsche AG will keep the memorable car as a trophy – a real symbol for all the 911 and Porsche brand has accomplished. Rumor has it, the trophy car could be driven around the world, on all the famous (and most likely highly photographed) roads. The one millionth 911 is indeed a special one.
