Tell Me Something Good

April 10, 2020

Welcome to day 1,459 of quarantine. Where we are all living in an extended remix of Big Brother. Alone. Together. All the time. All. The. Time. Together. (If this were a ZOOM call you would see now on your screen a scratched out note saying “HELP ME”).

Okay all kidding aside, for those of us fortunate enough to be: 1) Healthy and 2) Still able to work, albeit from home, I just wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly grateful I am and am sure EVERYONE is, for ALL our Healthcare Professionals, Police and Firefighters, EMT’s and ALL those in SERVICE. These people are just amazing ROCK STARS. It is a funny thing. As we are at our worst point of life (a car accident, sickness, in great need) it will be a complete stranger who will be the one who steps in and helps or saves us. If ever there was a greater comment of how wonderful our society and human-kind (emphasis on that last part) can be and is, you need to look no further for the BEST of us which is embodied by these remarkable professionals. I remember right after 911 I saw an interview with a hero of mine: Mr. Rogers. He said that when he was a little his mom once said to him that in times of great crisis and worry, look for the helpers. For that will give you hope and faith. That is what all those people listed above are doing and continue to. A VERY heartfelt THANK YOU. Our lives are in your hands.

So in the spirit of this, and as we mindlessly watching endless Tik-Tok videos, getting obsessed with Tiger King (have you seen this?? If not, stop reading this NOW and watch immediately). We live in this suspended time of un-reality, there is some magic out there.

Magic that can lift us up and inspire us to greatness during this period. Humans have always had this ability. I mean Sir Isaac Newton defined the laws of gravity (and Steve Jobs celebrated) developed calculus (my son wept) and discovered light prisms (to the delight of Pink Floyd) all during his “Year of Wonder” in 1665 locked up alone in quarantine while the Great Plague of London raged. Btw he was 23 when this occurred. Yep, 23.

So here are some things that inspire us. Please share your own. We are endlessly curious.

Stay healthy! In body and spirit!
