The Price of Salt? $135 Per Night.

January 12, 2016

It’s never too soon to start planning your 2016 get-aways, but before you go on Expedia to look for the best deals to Cabo, why not reach a little further? Have you ever considered Bolivia? It’s stunning, it’s surreal and it has a hotel made entirely out of salt. The Palacio de Sal sits on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni, a tremendous salt flat, and absolutely every part of the hotel has been built with the local salt. The walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, sculptures… everything! The roughly 48,000 square-foot luxury hotel (and spa) has 16 igloo-looking rooms that go for around $135 per night. It’s not the first hotel constructed from its surroundings (think Sweden’s Ice Hotel) though it may be one of the most interesting. Check it out at BusinessInsider.com.
